A couple of weeks with more work than usual, some travel thrown in, and of course the political climate reaching a full boil–and I have been too busy to post any pithiness here. Of course, my excuse is that I have just been too busy.
A few years back, a television station rolled out a self-promotion campaign that touted the premise that they were covering the news “at the speed of life.” Given that aside from the cute play on words, the phrase didn’t quite resonate with viewers because the speed of life isn’t something that usually is a positive.
Our lives are usually teetering between going at hyper-speed and hitting the wall and spiraling out of control. A NASCAR race of the soul. Without the cool graphics, sounds, and the screaming crowds.
There is the occasional pit stop, but then it is right back out on the track for a few more laps.
Hearing that the race is going to be extended for a few more laps because your 401K and Social Security prize money might not be there at the end doesn’t really help matters much. Throw in the occasional banged-up fender, shot transmission or blown engine and well…you know the rest.
So give me a cup of Gatorade and let’s get back in this thing.
